What are the Hunting Regulations in Western North Carolina?
-
While we cannot post and paint all 900 acres of the preserve at Chestnut Flats, we have worked hard to mark the most well-trafficked areas with purple paint and "no trespassing" signs. We will continue to add to our posting and painting project as necessary.
-
Hunters are prohibited from entering the property for any reason, including to retrieve their dogs.
-
Our goal as property owners on the mountain is to protect our property rights, protect the natural environment, and respect the traditions of Western North Carolina. While sometimes these values may conflict, we need to always look for ways to live peacefully with our neighbors.
-
If you see a hunter on the mountain and you are uncomfortable having a neighborly discussion with him or her, you can do one of two things:
-
Call or text Mike Dyer at 703-554-3223
-
Call North Carolina Wildlife. Tanner ABldwin, as well as the other officers there are well acquainted with our property and are standing by to help. The dispatch can be reached at 1-800-662-7137 or tanner.baldwin@ncwildlife.org.
